Is it realistic to think that a simple, open-source voting tool like FNV can compete effectively with the deep-pocketed lobbyists and campaign contributors who have long dominated the Congressional agenda?
It’s not only realistic, some say it’s inevitable. Various prophets of cyberspace (including Doug Rushkoff and others) have argued that such a transformation of our democracy is inevitable – a necessary consequence of the open-source nature of the Internet. And because AMP has its own revenue model (pay-per-click advertising during campaign season), it will be able to compete with monied lobbyists on their own terms, AND devote substantial resources to voter registration and civic education initiatives.
The breakdown and dysfunction of our nation’s 247-year old democracy is an unfortunate situation to be sure, but one that is ripe for transformation.
The American Majority Party is poised to help Americans regain control of their democracy. This effort cannot succeed, however, without YOUR participation.
“Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.”
